Our Goals
Our goal is to help students fill in the gaps in learning, and genuine learning occurs when we are interested and invested in topics that we find relevant. We do this by establishing strong student-teacher connections and using high quality, engaging teaching materials that tap into students’ interests. We guide students to discover and utilize their own unique learning styles and develop strategies so that they can do their best, both in and out of the classroom.
Educational Philosophy
Motivation and curiosity advance learning. We provide the tools and environment to get students excited about their topics of study and become lifelong learners. In addition to acquiring foundations and skills, self esteem and confidence are key elements of learning. In order to take risks, students must know that their ideas are respected and will not be ridiculed or ignored. Students who come to Rubenstein Tutoring know that their questions are welcomed and encouraged.
There are many learning styles and educators must be ready to differentiate and individualize material as well as the way it is presented so that students are engaged and successful. A smile, a sense of humor and an authentic student-teacher connection go a long way to promote student success.
Growth is Fluid
Academic and personal growth are not linear; student needs and goals may change over time. Maybe a student only needs one or two sessions to get back on track, or just requires help during testing periods, or performs better with support throughout the year in various arenas. We understand. For this reason, we do not require contracts or a minimum number of sessions. We also provide progress reports as frequently as parents or students would like. Communication is key.
